Conover Square has a long and colorful history. The
building was constructed in 1893 and was the home of the Schiller Piano
Factory. The company was one of the largest in Ogle County, employing more
than 400 people.
In 1936, the Schiller Piano Company consolidated with Cable Piano Company.
The factory produced victrolas, music pianos, player pianos, spinnets, and
baby grands. The factory was closed in the early 1970's. In 1978 the
building became home to Conover Square.
